The Codex Alimentarius Commission, established by FAO and WHO in 1963 develops harmonised international food standards, guidelines and codes of practice to protect the health of the consumers and ensure fair practices in the food trade. The Commission also promotes coordination of all food standards work undertaken by international governmental and non-governmental organizations. For more information see here.

to the website of the Codex Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses (CCNFSDU).
The Federal Republic of Germany is the host country for a subsidiary body of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC), the Codex Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses (CCNFSDU).
The terms of reference of this Committee are:
- 1. to study specific nutritional problems assigned to it by the Commission and advise the Commission on general nutrition issues;
- 2. to draft general provisions, as appropriate, concerning the nutritional aspects of all foods;
- 3. to develop standards, guidelines and related texts for foods for special dietary uses, in cooperation with other committees where necessary;
- 4. to consider, amend if necessary, and endorse provisions on nutritional aspects proposed for inclusion in Codex standards, guidelines and related texts.
The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture hosts the sessions of the CCNFSDU on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany.
The next CCNFSDU (36th CCNFSDU) will be held in Bali, Indonesia, on 24 to 28 November 2014.
The annual sessions are convened under the authority of the Codex Alimentarius Commission, and are open to Member Nations and Associate Members of the FOOD AND AGRICULTURE ORGANIZATION OF THE UNITED NATIONS (FAO) and the WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION (WHO) and to observers. Member Nations and Associate Members of both Organizations which are not Members of the Codex Alimentarius Commission may attend as observers. Expenses incurred in connection with attendance at the CCNFSDU and the ad hoc Working Group and with travel by delegations from the Members of the Commission and by observers shall be borne by the governments or organizations concerned.
